A limited-time exhibition honoring the Pope of Trash himself,
John Waters, and chronicling the beginning of his illustrious career.

This project explores issues of morals and ethics through an exhibition of the work of John Waters and his transgressive films. I strived to dive into what makes his films be seen as shocking both then and now and what earned the director the “Pope of Trash” title. I also decided to highlight the returning players in his shocking stories. To achieve this goal, I created the branding for this exhibition through wayfinding, promotional material, and a catalog.

Upon entering the exhibition, guests will be handed a guidebook to give them a rundown of the world of debauchery they are about to enter. This booklet on “all things filthy” will inform the reader about John Waters and his cast of “Dreamlanders”, as well as the infamous films they all created together.
